Kirna Manor Tulip Fields and Flower Arrangement Exhibition

The manor and park are open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM!

The tulip fields of Kirna Manor have become a national pride. For many years, the Järvamaa flower bloom has attracted tens of thousands of people. Here, you can experience a true sense of spring and peace of mind. The Kirna Manor family has given their best to ensure that the colorful tulip fields bring joy to flower lovers.

In addition to the first tulip bulbs saved from the Nurmiko greenhouse fire in 2019, numerous new planting areas have been carefully established in the historic Kirna Manor Park, and many exciting varieties have been added. Last autumn, all the old tulips were dug up from the largest planting area and replaced with fresh bulbs. Around Sirelilehtla, 20 varieties of the latest parrot tulips were planted. In total, over 140 varieties of tulips have already been planted in Kirna.

However, nature, with its merciless tricks, has presented many challenges to gardeners this spring. It seems that the cold weather, along with rain and sleet, has not been kind to Kirna’s tulip fields. Here and there, gray spots and specks have appeared on the tulip leaves—infamous gray mold, which spreads in the moisture and cold in many Estonian gardens and parks. Therefore, the flowering of some varieties this spring has been more restrained than usual. “We are, of course, very sad. It seems that this year we have to pay the price for growing everything in our garden without chemicals,” admits Kirna Manor gardener Eve Sammal. “We have consciously avoided fungicides and other chemicals throughout the park to preserve natural diversity. The spring chorus of birdsong is proof of that.”

The flower exhibition taking place at Kirna Manor this spring is more exciting than ever before. From May 11-16, world-class floristry master Klaus Wagener, known for his deep understanding of nature and appreciation of natural materials, stayed in Kirna. The flower arrangements created under Klaus Wagener’s guidance are displayed in the magical, time-worn interior of Kirna Manor’s second floor. Against the backdrop of the flower arrangements, you can enjoy Ülle Papago’s painting exhibition “Flower Portal.”

We do not subdue nature with poisons or lure friends with advertisements. At Kirna Manor, we respect nature and friends; together, we find joy in spring this year as well. We consider it important to honestly share our sadness about the smaller bloom this year in the garden and hope that the world-class flower arrangement art in the manor’s second-floor halls can compensate for it.

History

Kirna Manor was established in the 1620s when Gustav II Adolf gifted five villages in Järvamaa to Hans von Fersen, the head of the Estonian nobility. The manor remained in the hands of the Fersen family until 1787.

During the time of Carl Gustav von Fersen, an impressive manor house was built. After his death, the manor passed to his niece, Helene Dorothea von Fersen, who was married to Johann Gustav von Osten-Sacken and later to Prince Mikhail Gorchakov (1768–1831).

In 1804, the manor became the property of Johann’s younger brother, Carl Magnus Osten-Sacken (1733–1808), who redesigned the manor house. The Osten-Sacken family owned the manor until 1816, when it was pledged to Major General Georg Ludwig Pilar von Pilchau, and the manor remained in the Pilchau family’s possession until its expropriation in 1919.

Kirna Manor Park

For those interested in natural healing, Kirna Manor Park is well known for its natural backdrop that supports the biological rhythms of the human body. According to geological maps of the ground, it has been determined that Kirna Manor and the park are located above a major fault line. The rumors of Kirna Manor Park’s positive effects have spread beyond Estonia. Visitor groups from Europe are frequent, and there have even been visitors from Brazil and Tibet.

Kirna mõis

The most common problem for modern people is stress, which also causes many other illnesses. In Kirna Manor Park, being in the park has shown good results in alleviating stress. Although the positive effects of Kirna Manor Park are not always fully explainable, we likely agree that certain places have a particularly beneficial effect on human health. We believe that a person can do a lot to experience the park’s effects. The desire and willingness to solve one’s problems, as well as trust in the help nature offers, should enhance the impact of the time spent in the park. Patience also helps: contact with nature may not restore quickly, but the results are more lasting. So, let’s make use of what our own nature offers us!

What clients think?

Incredibly good food! The homemade cake was so fresh, the taste was perfectly balanced, and its appearance was ideal. The staff were also amazing – they remembered everything that was said, and they treated the customers with sincerity and kindness. The atmosphere was wonderfully cozy and lovely. Thank you!

Karin Köster

A great place to honestly look within yourself. A walk in the park powerfully and clearly led to the understanding of where the 'shoe pinches' and what needs to be done to fix the issue. The manor house is also very captivating, with unique architecture. I wish the owners strength in restoring it and in creating beauty and abundance.

Kristel Aus

The tulips at Kirna Manor are so amazing by Estonian standards that there isn’t much more to add. I had read about Kirna Park and knew about the benches. And that there were tulips. In reality, there are over 60 varieties of tulips. And not just a few, but fields of them. Although the manor's website states that the manor park is the most visited tourist center in Järvamaa during the summer and that the manor staff recommends visitors come to see the flowers on weekdays, this statement is a bit ambiguous. It's ambiguous because I don't know what happens here on weekends, but on a weekday afternoon, the garden was full of people to the brim.

"Kirna gives your brain a restart. After being in Kirna, your head feels fresh and rested, and your thinking is simple and light. In Kirna, you get a sense of empowerment – that REALLY, YOU CAN HANDLE EVERYTHING IN LIFE – especially when sitting on the brain energy and pineal gland benches. Many of us have felt that our eyesight becomes clearer in Kirna. And interestingly, you don't get sick here – we’ve visited even in very cold weather, in autumn rain and wind, and despite freezing, we were all perfectly healthy the next day 🙂 Some trees are especially charming, like the female hormone trees – the group of chestnuts – you just want to hug the trees 🙂 Pregnancy and family relationships – it's a wonderful spot to sit in during the summer – it feels like being "indoors" – the tree branches form a protective wall around you.

Anu Seeman

It’s something warm, beautiful, and mystical. When you’re at the manor, you feel peace and love. You sit on these benches... and time seems to stand still. Kirna has helped me, and that’s why I can say, believe me, it has everything that someone in need could ever want. I also thank Henn Hunt! His hug before leaving left a very warm feeling for a long time. If possible, I will always return.

Heli Rood

A café where it's truly easy to forget everything and simply enjoy.

Triin Kärblane

A wonderful cozy atmosphere, friendly and professional service, and amazing food. The freshly baked rhubarb and cottage cheese meringue cake was simply divine.

Kärt Ojala

Thank you, dear café family! Yesterday's visit to you was wonderful... the roast meat melted in the mouth, the meringue cake was very tasty... a warm room and a kind host family, what more could you ask for? Nothing more... we’ll come again next time!!

Ingrid Mangmann

The pearl of Järvamaa! Of course, the food at the café is amazing, and the atmosphere is cozy. Being there, time has a completely different meaning.

Marja-Liisa Loitmets

Peace of mind and joy are probably the most accurate words to describe how I felt when leaving the manor. In the parking lot, people were praising each other: ‘Good thing we came, it’s like Keukenhof.’ In my opinion, it’s not. It’s something much more. On one side, there are orderly tulip designs, and on the other side, a wild tulip field. On one side, neatly labeled varieties, and on the other, beautifully wild. And when you need to rest your feet, choose the right bench. The Kirna Manor Tulip Festival is amazing. Yet, along with the floral images, came soul pictures and a softly ringing question.

Aune Past

Homely warmth and creative gourmet. A place where the chef, the customer, and the server all smile. A meeting place for happy people.

Piret Sihver

The garden may be at its best in the spring during the Tulip Festival, but Kirna Manor is a gem at any time. The café on the lower level features elegant eclectic furniture and decor. Pay attention to the unique heating solutions. The seasonal puree of fresh peas and other vegetables was simply amazing. The wait staff was attentive, competent, and pleasant. The New Age vibe was palpable yet unobtrusive. The idea of commemorative roof tiles for purchase to support the new roof is an inventive touch.

Ulrika Mansnerus-Watson

I visited Kirna Manor last Sunday to enjoy its beautiful flowers, but the food offered me an even greater experience than the flowers! I felt so special yet so ordinary in the Kirna Manor café, and it truly made me happy and touched me deeply! I have a very sensitive stomach, and I’m so used to the fact that I generally can’t eat anything at cafés or outdoor events, but here I was able to choose! It was absolutely amazing that the soup and even the curry on the menu were vegan and free from gluten and soy. On top of this wonderful surprise, my senses were further delighted by the beautiful avocado raw cake 🙏😍.

Kertu Chaffraix

It felt as though I had gone back in time, to a moment where beauty had time to simply be, and where love could still develop timidly. It was a very Sunday-like and sacred feeling to be among the people, trees, flowers, and the souls of the manor. I wouldn't want to describe this in too much detail, but I can't deny that Kirna Manor seems to weigh your thoughts and feelings, and then either embraces you or leaves you as a tourist. When I came down the manor stairs at the end of the day, a woman grabbed my hand and said from the bottom of her heart: 'I would like to stay here forever.' 'Living wishes tend to come true, so be careful,' I replied. Because it seems to me that there are others at Kirna Manor who have stayed there forever.
